Hi, I replaced the door gasket on my Volgerzang 5790 , It calls for a 5/8 gasket which I purchased a Rutland local and it seemed small int he channel, Door latch pressure seemed about like the one I replaced ( I did not glue it in or do dollar check as it seemed small in channel ) I picked up a 3/4 Rutland and it fits in the channel nice but it seems to be sitting to deep in channel and not enough material sticking out to seal. I did glue this one in and had to tighten the latches one turn to have some pressure. It failed the dollar test on top of door with no resistance at all.
I did order the factory 5/8 and I am waiting for it to come in. I also ordered 1 x 1/4 flat gasket that I was thinking of putting on the unit it shelf and having the door gasket and this gasket what do you guys think of this idea?
The 3/4 feels softer then the 5/8 both by Rutland, The gasket on the door was hard but I am not sure if that was because of age. Should I try a 7/8th?
What are signs of a bad seal, the fire seems bigger and maybe more erratic but I did also clean the stove.
Thanks
