Vogelzang VG5722 VS Vogelzang VG5790, Are they comparable as far as heat out put? I see the 5790 has been discontinued,
The 5790 states it does
2,200 Sq Ft
65,000 BTU's
The 5722 States
2,200 sq ft
33,000 BTU's

Now I know it BTU's are roughly half less, but they say for same size house, Stoves both appear to be the largest Model when their line up was being sold.
Just wondering what you guys think.

The stove output in BTUs is most likely close to the real output
But the sq. footage is a joke at best the number given is best case
New supper-tight home with no air leaks insulated to the hilt
look at it this way a garage insulation or dealing of 2000sq.ft there is no possible
way ether stove will heat the space. If you insulate, good windows,
door seals and insulated doors then you may have a chance to heat it
with the small output stove or are more likely to heat it with the bigger stove.
Just my nickels worth from the Great White North

Yes I agree that SQ ft depends on the house, I am not looking to replace the 5790 at the moment but just have been looking. I am very happy how this stove heats my home. I am curious if the new model would heat my home even if it had to be turned up as the 5790 usually stays on the lowest setting, Sometimes it ramps up to three but I never put it higher.

Yes a smaller BTU stove would probably heat your home using a higher temp setting.
There is a saying "Buy a bigger BTU stove than you think you need it is easier to get more BTUs from
a big stove than getting more BTUs from a maxed out smaller stove"

Yeah, I was hoping when the time comes to replace I could find one that was similar in size and set up, The exhaust outlet and what not appears to be similar between the two. I may need to look for a bigger BTU unit though. I have ben very happy with my current stove.

Why do you want to replace it?
new stove COST$$$ and repairs are a lot cheaper
Plus you know what you got and if you are happy with it well

I don't want to at the moment, I am very happy with this stove, I was just looking at options for when the time comes, I know that Stove do change as time goes on so what I research today may not apply in the future. I have had this stove for 10 Years now and It's all I use for heat.

I am doing research for my sister as she is looking so I figured this would apply to her currently.

All Good, My stove is in its 23 year of supplying my heat. Has not cost me much just regular maintenance

I am just unsure how long the fire box will last before it warps or rusts out, I am sure the steel used in this stove is not as good as other more high end units.

If you put it on a thermostat it will run till it satisfies heat need, then shut off till the next call for heat. Almost all big box store stoves are mild steel, even some of the high end stoves are mild steel. I wouldn't worry to much about that.
