I am helping a buddy install a new pellet stove. He wants to place it on his existing fireplace hearth, which will need to be built out a little, and vent up the existing brick Chimney. Does anyone know, is there a special kit to do this? Does the new vent pipe have to go all the way up the chimney or can you route it up so far and let the existing chimney be the vent? I know we will need to build a draft blocker since the Flue will always be open now, I am just not sure if there is a particular type of venting for a brick chimney.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
