Hello All --Longtime lurker, first time poster. Thanks in advance for all of your knowledge shared. Hubs completely rebuilt a 1986 VC Defiant Encore. Beautiful (and expensive) job but we loved the stove and believe in resurrecting good old things rather than buy new from China...anywho...stove fired up great and was humming along as if brand new (replaced Cat, refractory, thermometer coil, all gaskets) -fireback and all panels were in good shape with no cracks or warping.
All was going great until damper handle seemed to just break free and now swivels without connection to the damper assembly.
Before I ask hubs to open up the stove anyone have any idea what might have happened and is there an easy fix? Manual says you can reach damper tabs and torsion bar clips via the flue collar...really hoping this could potentially be the issue rather than ripping the entire assembly apart again. Ugh...help!
