I'm looking to tear out our 22-year-old open style ZC fireplace and replace it with a more efficient unit. I know a woodstove would be the most efficient thing, but it's not an option in our space. I'm considering the Hearthstone WFP 75 or the Valcourt FP10R. Both have a nice large viewing window and a traditional/classic aesthetic. Importantly they both work with a 6 inch flue and I have no interest in changing my venting situation.

The Valcourt comes in at least $1k lower in price, which is attractive. Anybody have experience with these units? Does one have any distinct advantages? Are there others that I should be considering?

Both have similar secondary combustion systems. The Vacourt has a welded steel firebox vs cast iron in the WFP 75.

Another fireplaces to consider would be the Pacific Energy FP30 arched.
