Two Mt Vernon AE Questions, Please

I have used my Mt Vernon AE for one full season and figured I would fire her up this morning for the heck of it. Two issues arose and here they are:

1. Is it normal to have a smell come out of the stove? Kind of smells like metallic but it can't be because I burned off all of that stuff last year? Maybe it could be leftover ash, etc? What do you guys think? Kind of gives me a headache.

2. I am hearing a lot of rumbling sounds in the unit, sort of like a vibration. Thoughts?

I wouldn't be too worried about the smell unless it doesn't go away.
As far as the noise goes can you pinpoint an area that its coming from?

The rumble could be caused by a buildup of soot and other debris in back of the ash drawer. Pull the drawer out and clean the slot you will see in back of it. Also there was a update comprising of a tin shield that fastens by two screws in back of the drawer. Installing that piece of tin will stop the rumbling sound. I think it happens when the stove is starting to ramp up the temp and fan speed. That piece of tin regulates how much air the stove gets plus keeps any overflow from the ash drawer from going into the exhaust chamber.

If it's just a "vibration" on my insert one of the side panels is slightly loose and makes a vibrating sound at start up. If I put my hand on it, the noise stops. Should be easy to fix. The other sound is the low vibration that sounds like blowing air over a bottle. I had the plate referenced, so that wasn't the problem. I did adjust the baffle after cleaning once and slightly created more space on one side of the unit that the other. I noticed the sound shortly afterwards. I recentered the baffle so the space was even on both sides, and now the sound doesn't appear as often.

I have a similar issue with the baffle. If I don't get it in centered after cleaning, I get a nice vibration sound that increases with the higher outputs. I think the reason might be that if you don't center the baffle, the metal clips only end up holding one side of the baffle well.

is the low vibration sound the famous quadrafire roar that can happen when the air whistles through the hole in the burn pot? If thats where the noise is coming from, try to get the holes nice and clean.
