Two different brand stoves with different pellet usage ANYONE?

I have a Thelin and an Englander. My thelin uses one bag of barefoots every 26 hours with the stove on its lowest setting and its HOT!
the Englander uses one bag of barefoots every 18 hours on its lowest setting and doesnt pump put as much heat. Anyone else see a differenece in their stoves???

I have to agree, the thelins are a really well built stove and cost a bit more. Isn't englander the home depot stove? if so there is your answer, you get what you pay for

I have an old Whitfield insert and a newer Harman P-38. Both spec's indicate they put out 42k - 43k BTU's.

My Whitfied puts out more heat and uses less pellets without question.

I have read that a pound of pellets will produce 8000 btu's , I don't believe that pellet
stoves have a built in btu multiplier in them . The heat is going in the room , or out the
vent, no where else for it to go . Some pellets my produce higher btu's then other pellets
, but a btu is a btu .

I think it all depends on the heat exchanger. The more efficient the heat exchanger is at extracting the heat. The more heat you will get in the room and Less heat goes out the exhaust. Should require less fuel to get the same amount of heat in the house.
