Had a bad experience last weekend with my Echo. Neighboor called and said my stove exhaust was smoking badly. I went to the living room and the stove was running but the glass was pretty dirty and I couldn't see any signs of a flame. I started to open the door to take a peek and as the door barely cracked open and before the latch was fully disengaged a large fireball errupted in the stove with a loud whuummMMPPHH!!! A big poof of smoke shot out around the rim of the door and pretty much filled the lliving room.

If you've ever used the redneck tire mounting method, well that was the sort of effect it had. If you don't know what the redneck tire mounting method is then watch this:

Apparently my wife had tried to get it started using the igniter and it overfed with out fully lighting off and was smoldering badly causing all the smoke. When I opened the door there must have been a lot of combustible gas inside caused by the airflow being blocked by the pile off pellets covering the burn pot. When I began to open the door the rush of air that the blower pulled in set off the gas with a "Backdraft" effect.

Not real happy about the messy cleanup afterwards but more so a bit leary of the safety of the stove now.
