Is when you know you've got it, and you're just sitting around waiting to vomit.
I went to bed at 9:30, laid there for about 5 minutes... realized something wasn't right. Got up, and I've been wandering around outside listening to the EXTREMELY noisy cows, looking at the stars, sitting on my picnic bench outside... There's not much for me to do because I haven't finished my house, so I'm only living in my kitchen/bath/laundry room right now... I sleep in my laundry room, yes... and my computer is in my kitchen... (both laundry room and kitchen are 10x8 rooms)

Hopefully I can manage to make it to work tomorrow (wed) at the very least to get the holiday pay.
I'm extremely exhausted, but sleep won't come.
I'm a dummy because I got my flu shot last week while I was at the doctor... should have got it earlier.

I was out sick for 3 days last week because of the flu. Got my flu shot a month ago but it didn't help. Hope you get feeling better.

I'm getting kinda hungry... :|

edit; Oh hey, my 4:30 alarm just went off... I just switched jobs 2 months ago, I bet they'll appreciate me taking time off before thanksgiving. Yep.

Why are your cows so noisy at that time of night??

Not my cows, the farmer across the street from me owns them.
and I have no idea. Usually they're pretty noisy just in the mornings... But they were extremely talkative tonight. It sounded like a good portion of them had something to say... and there were probably 50-60 of them up near the barn. Maybe they just seemed louder because it's so quiet out!
I know they were weaning the calves, but that was about 3 weeks ago.

I work in healthcare and have not gotten a flu shot in years...I used to get them...
Hope ya feel better...it sucks being sick...

Girlfriend is a hair stylist... so she brings home all kinds of lovely presents of the bacteria/virus type :|
I bring home metal shavings on my clothes that hurt like the end of the world when you step on them with a bare foot!

we're just two peas in a pod -.-
a very ill pod.
thanks :]

If posed with having my coworker coming in with the flu or me having to do double duty, um I'll take the latter every time!

Don't confuse the "influenza" with "stomach flu."

Vomiting is actually not a common symptom of influenza.

That info doesn't make you or anyone else feel any better, but often times I think people give the flu vaccine a bad rap because they wind up w/ something like you have and then think that the flu vaccine didn't help protect them, when in reality it couldn't because they are 2 different things.

Keep hydrated and ride things out the best you can.

Good luck

Yep,

That's what I was thinking as well Pen. Hass, I hope you feel better man. If it is the stomach flu you should be feeling a lot better by Wed. morning, def. by afternoon. If it is the influenza, you will be in for a longer, nastier ride than that. Get lots of rest today and your fluids of course.

Get well soon . . .

I get the double whammy . . . wife brings home the stuff she "finds" in the hospital . . . and I bring home the stuff the little kids at the schools (aka "Germ Factories") give me.

As a supervisor, thank you for calling in sick. Not much I dislike more than a person coming to work and infecting others which then causes them to take off, thus creating more sick leave. Stay home a day, get better, and then come to work. No one is that important that we can't get along without them.

It sucks when its coming out both ends at the same time... :shut: .it takes too much effort....getting up and down...
When your sick you just want to lay down and relax....I hate having to sleep on the bathroom floor...
:smirk:

Hubby used to bring home stainless steel shavings in his clothes - one of our sons asked one day, "Daddy, do you work in a silver mine?" :)

Hope you feel better soon!

Too much Inglenook exposure can get you on the bathroom floor also. :)

Yeah, I actually looked it up while I was sitting here bored to death. Today thinking about it, it probably isn't the real flu. I've had the real one quite a few times and it feels like you got ran over by a big ol mack truck. Today I just feel a little queasy. Also someone was pounding on my door and woke me up... but I didn't get to the door in time -.-
I do agree though, people also complain about how they get sick recently after getting the flu shot much like I did. Then blame the flu shot for getting them sick. Call me a moron but for the most part I trust my doctors and what they say. If they say something is safe or I should do this and not that, I'll listen to him. Some folks say never to trust anything they do, do believe vaccines are safe etc... But I think doctors know quite a bit more than my non-medically educated butt.

I always appreciate people calling in sick instead of coming in to work. But I can't help but feel like they're going to be thinking I'm just trying to get a longer weekend out of it since I was 100% perfectly fine when I left on Monday. Coinciding with Thanksgiving holiday is an awwwful big coincidence. I'm hoping to make it in tomorrow so I can get paid up for the holiday at least. Maybe I'll stay late and make up some of the hours I missed and then just do 8 on sat/sun. We're working unlimited overtime right now, so they're encourage people to work as much as they can. We're about 4 months behind on all of our orders. Normally I don't give a second thought about calling in sick. But I feel like I left them in the side of the ditch after they have been treating me absolutely amazing since I've started.
Plus open enrollment ends tomorrow for benefits... so I've got to get in my new FSA form! Have to get my wisdom teeth pulled among other dental work and a minor surgery next year... I figure a FSA is a good way to take up most of the cost! My dental will cover 1500... But that's not nearly enough :|

LOL! My dad was like that too when I was a kid. One day I got a little curly shaving deep in my foot and I was bawling my eyes until my dad dug it all out. From that day on I never saw him bring home his work boots again, or wear home his shop clothes. He'd always take sneakers and change in to those... I can't imagine how bad he must have felt :[

thanks for the warm wishes guys.
I think I just might try to nibble on some crackers... mhmmm...

The worst part is that you live in Alabama and its too warm to sit at home enjoying a fire. Oh, wait, you live in Alabama, New York. What I mean is the BEST part is that you live in Alabama, NY and can sit at home and burn wood.

Hope you're feeling better now . . .
and hope the dang cows have quit the infernal racket! So much for the peace and quiet of the countryside . . .

I have never had a flue shot and have never had the flu. Stomach or otherwise. Lets just say I am skeptical and perhaps willing to invest in some natural immunity. Most of us won't die from the flu so if you want to get a shot for it next year then consider it a learning opportunity.

I have had the mostly unpleasant experience of holding the bucket for my 8 year old daughter while she shot "stuff" out of both ends at the same time. Pretty gross but you have got to appreciate the father/duaghter bonding moment.

I'm feeling a bit better, managed to make it to work on Wed... and I'll head in this Sat to make up the time I missed on Tues.
I missed a meeting on Tuesday that our supervisor wants everyone working a minimum of 60hours a week for the next 3-4 months to get our on-time order % up.
I guess they did 4.5million in sales last month... It was the best month in 40 years of operating. and we only have about 20 guys in the shop and about another 10 up front in the offices... so I guess that's not too shabby. They boss men were pretty darn excited to say the least. Shame I missed it. :] Oh well.
I guess I'll be living at my work for a while... Get a bunch of extra money to pay down on the house ;) Or maybe buy new toys... Probably buy new toys.

I'm sure she appreciates it, I know I always did when my dad was there for me. He still is...
I've eaten some pretty bad food, lots of things I shouldn't have, and usually don't get sick. I don't get colds or anything. But a stomach flu or regular flu will always manage to find me...
