You be the Judge first picture is on the rusted out connector pipe paper thin in some bad rust spots

http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n10/elkimmeg/?action=view&current=IM006523.jpg

The next picture is the firebox. Note the wall directly in front of you is completely missing the heat shield protection. Opposite that hole an the outside that metal is whitish and paper Thin what is more alarming is after further examination one of the bolts rusted out and there was a quarter size hole in the fire box

http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n10/elkimmeg/?action=view&current=IM006524.jpg

The next picture I used a micrometer to determine metal thickness
Less than 5 /64” Also note the upper right corner is another hole in the fire box missing a bolt

Next picture is of the loading door note the gasket and the top left corner where there is none. The door is so warped that even with a good gasket it would not seal.

The final picture is of the lack of gasket material of the ash door

I owe GVA, Harley and Keyman admiration and recognition, The stove we removed presented a very real and dangerous condition. I think we save the Hunter family a very serious incident. We may have saved their lives.

Yah, that looks like an accident waiting to happen. Good job guys!

Elk...
Perhaps you should set that stove to the side and we could give it a proper "Military style decommisioning"...I'll bring the plasma cutter over and we can have a new topic for discussion next weekend...(Good excuse to drink beer and play with the plasma cutter)!!!lol
(broken link removed)

if we were going to do that I have permmission to shoot in a local sand pit we could fill it up with lead
what is going to happer is it is going to the scrap yard today I do have tourches here to cut it up.

But I'm going to treat it like a foo gass canister back it up to the pile and kick it off

This stove was only a few fires away for an accident happening No wonder we only got a 1/2 coffee can of brown power this stove was overfiring bad gaskets warped sides al particiallyt burnt threw.. Pretty soon I' know Iam going to get the call the new stove does not heat up as much that's because it woll be running correctly and not be overfiring all the time

Nice work guys. I wish I could do something like that around here. We don't really aquire old stoves at all, just broken ones that need to go in the trash.

They may not be getting as much out of it all at once but they should burn a LOT less wood.

The stove is at its final resting place Alied Recycling Center Inc

And may it rest in peace. Actually - the stove did do it's job for a lot of years - that poor 'ole Ashley was really pushed to it's limits.

Elk, I hope you scattered it's "ashes" far enough apart that someone doesn't try to scrounge it and try to bring it back to life. We don't need any "Zomby" stoves out there :vampire:

Heck, he should have installed it in place of one of those VC stoves. So he could finally get some heat in that house.

Sounds like a trip to Tom's Tavern coming up!

jtp,
If we can get something going in WI, I'm in to lend a hand and whatever other resources I can spare. Keep it in mind.
