I have a Summers Heat 22-SHP in its 2nd year. The first winter, this stove basically heated our entire 1900 sq ft home with no difficulty. This year its been a bit different. I was just not getting the heat output. Granted its been colder...but I had to crank the stove more than normal. Then...I started having the problem of overheating on any setting above 5. I was also getting a LOT more ash than last year (despite using the same brand of pellets). I tried a few bags of a different brand...no difference.
I did a thorough end-of-season cleaning....in the bitter cold to see if that would help.
Nothing worked...I was simply getting about half the heat output from last year.
Then...while vacuuming behind the stove...I shook the outside air intake pipe...and heard a strange rattle. ( I do not have the pipe outside...it is inside, I know I know...)
I take off the pipe and shake it....and discovered that my biggest threat are my 3 and 4 year old girls. See below for the contents of the OAK. Gee do you think this might be an issue
