So do you guys test your stoves to make sure they work before the cold gets here? I took mine apart and cleaned it good so I kind of want to test it out to make sure everything works. but I don't want to clean it again before the heavy cold comes...
I guess it is always a good idea to be prepared and test it ahead of time. Once the cold season hits dealers will be very busy and it could take awhile to get service or parts. BUT, even if you test your stove ahead of time, I guess there is nothing that says you still won't experience a problem the day you fire up and really need it. It is sort of like a lawn mower. Everyone waits until they need to mow just to find out that the mower has problems. Try and get quick service on a mower in the spring -lol
My theory is, take care of it and it should be dependable when you need it. Anything beyound that is out of your control anyway.
Sorry, I am just feeling a little bit philosophical this eventing.
I tested mine after buying it used. It needed serious cleaning and refurbishing. Once that was done, I didn't want to move it too many times so I did a test burn before bringing it in the house. I don't think I would do any other testing once its installed and being used and maintained seasonally.
harman stoves have a "test" setting to check all the motors/ function, the only thing not running in this mode is the ignitor, and with the ignitor bypass switch, it does not keep you from being able to run your stove normally in the event of an ignitor failure.
