Without any doubt, a used stove bought from a taxpayer does not qualify for the tax credit. Will people still claim them? Sure. Will folks on these forums tell you different, or to do it anyway? Sure. But a used stove does not qualify unless it was used by the company selling the stove as a display model and not previously purchased by a homeowner (for lack of a more proper explanation)
Yeah, this was rehashed several times last year. The catch was down in the tax code stating that "the original use must commence with the buyer" or something to that effect.
