Could the storage tank be used for the overheat loop if you set up a bypass with the Automag zone valve in it or would you run the risk of damaging the EPDM liner?

for my intuition and comfort level, it's not very likely that convection through a copper coil in an unpressurized EPDM lined tank is going to "do it" for fail-safe heat-sink if the power goes off

the key to gravity flow for a dump zone is to have big diameter piping, with the dump zone's inlet above the boiler's outlet, and the dump zone's outlet above the boiler's inlet--

--and most of the EPDM/ copper coil tanks are going to flunk those basics of layout from the get-go
