Man o man is this stuff giving a terrific burn. It has been seasoned for 2 years and is just raging. It seems to be burning better than black cherry. Burning super hot and real nice coals. Checked the btu charts but could not find the rating.
If you put your stove in your signature, we'd have a frame of reference...That is why I like having a variety of woods at my disposal. I found that when it get below 10 degrees and I am home, I actually will use red maple as the coal beds don't build like the other hardwoods. That way I can get 4 loads in for the day. Oak and Locust I can only get away with 3 a day. The sweet cherry is just blowing my mind. Got a solid six hours and the burn was real hot for about 5 of those hours.
The bark peels like white birch. All my son and I could do to put it in the pickup, 6 rounds a load and 5 loads. Stood the splitter vert. until they were small enough to lift and then they exploded when they split.Cherry birch is another name for Black birch, which can also be called mahogany birch. But the wood in no way resembles White birch. If you picked up something from a dump, just post the pics here.
