That is a great deal........I missed a Phoenix on CL last year. When I saw the add I must have been in de-fib because later I discovered I had dialed the wrong number. By the time I figured it out....it was sold. The guy that bought it re-posted on CL 3 days later for $1500 more than he paid.........

I scored my Hearthstone Phoenix from CL, black enamel finish, older model but practically unused, for $600 (asking $800 - a good lesson for the kid on haggling for a price). I think the previous owner(s) went crazy with the incessant whistling that occurred when it hit about 300 degrees. Of course, I didn't know about that when I bought it, and after about two weeks of burning would have gone nuts myself if I hadn't solved the problem (with the help of the Hearthstone folks). Apparently, my year make (94) had many stoves that whistled from a design problem. Secondary intakes at the bottom back created a fluting phenom that just wouldn't stop. They sent me two tiny metal clips that I popped into the openings, with just enough disturbance to the air flow to break the flute effect. Problem solved. Beautiful stove. Works great. Heats the whole house. I wonder if that previous owner would laugh or cry.
