Two days ago we were preparing for bed and I made one last check on the stove. Looked at the flue temperature and it was 450. Stove top was 400. Son of a gun, the cat was not engaged. I know for sure that I engaged it so I must not have pushed the lever all the way up.

The very next day I had put some wood in the stove but not yet engaged the cat. Wouldn't you know, the lever flipped! Now I've had the cat lever flip down but never up! Hasn't happened since but we are keeping a close eye on it.

Anyone else had this happen?

And believe it or not, but this post marks my 9,000th post on hearth.com. I'm amazed you folks have put up with me this long!

I'm thinking you have a ghost in the house! :)

Hello. Mrs. BWS !!!!!

Welcome to the "Sistahood" !! Enjoy your revenge !!!!!

;-P

Generally speaking, when you attempt to engage a cat with wood, the lever works best when it is flipped up.

Can't say it has happened to me yet Dennis, but I'm not as old as you yet.

Somebody owes me keyboard, cause I just blew coffee all over this one laughing. A C

Tell ya, it's another case of Spontaneous Ress-erection! First Jags stove, now Dennis's. Must be the lunar eclipse + solstice start. This season is off to an auspicious start.

The whisky is working, and the mind is just full of raunchy innuendo. But I better not start since the ladies are watching.

Anyway, Happy 9000th post. Wait... I see you've made 11 more posts in the last 2 hours. You really need to get a flippin' life. ;-P

Face it - you were visited by one or more of Santa's Elves! :)

Maybe your stove was just excited to see you? With 9,000,000 posts you should know better than post personal stuff like that LOL... Did you notice that Bart was just waiting in the wings for this revealing post?

Were you just about to make use of the 'tunnel of love' method when your lever flipped up? Cheers!

Thanks everyone. Both the Mrs. and I have enjoyed all the posts. This just shows that we have a wonderful group here on hearth.com when they can be serious but still kid around a bit. Now, I am not sure which way the lever is supposed to be.....
