Stove connection

I was planning on going from the stove to the tee, then liner and up the chimney to the cap. However, I have a few questions.

-Once the tee is in the collar, how far in should it go? Is there always a small lip there acting as a stop and just touch that and you are good?
-Does the end going into the stove need to be crimped?
-The specs on the stove say it has a 6" flue opening, but based on my measurement, it looks like the stove may need 5.5". Please take a look at the picture. The tee would mount on the inside correct?

That picture is hard to determine which way is up, but the tee should go inside.

Make and model of stove?
Brand of piping being used?
Picture of hearth and dimensions of opening?

I think I am just going to fit some 5.5" pipe to make sure. If it is 5.5", could I run a 6" liner to a 6" tee and just run a 5.5" male - 6" female reducer? I would rather pay another $20 for 6" and have more flexibility going forward if I upgrade the stove.

Many older stoves like yours had a stove collar that you slid the pipe over. It is not the right way to do it but that is how they chose to.

Many older stoves like yours had a stove collar that you slid the pipe over. It is not the right way to do it but that is how they chose to.

So that is how the manufacturer in some cases back then wanted it installed?

Yeah allot of them were like that. It is annoying but no way around it really unless 5.5 would fit inside nicely. It doesnt in most cases but may on yours

Yep that is definitely correct. Piece of 6" smoke pipe fits over it perfect. Old owner had a rusty piece of 5" on the inside somehow.

Goid glad it worked out. Now make sure you insulate that liner
