I just got back from a 3-day vacation, come home, open the door to my F-55, and POW!.. a dozen stink bugs fly into my face, causing all kinds of ruckus. How could they have possibly got INTO my stove??
Doing some investigation, it looks like some of them are creeping into the house from where the primary air is sucked up into the stove from underneath the stove itself.
My question is... is it possible that these bugs somehow found their way from the chimney on the roof, down the chimney, through all the chambers inside the stove, and out the air intake on the bottom of the stove??
I know (99% sure) they're coming into the house through the stove because when I opened the door, they were all sitting just inside where the metal rope seal is.
Googling says these bugs try to enter the house during Fall to get warm. Were the installers supposed to install some sort of 'bug screen' on the chimney outside to prevent this? I thought they did but have to check.
The insane thing is.. i have the stove running at 600 degrees to try to burn them out, and they're still coming in!
Is it possible the stove is THAT well insulated on the bottom that some of them can survive the heat??
Please help.. im going insaneeeee!
