Stihl o26, cleaned carb. Now wont start floods instantly???

So my very reliable o26 wasn't running quite up to snuff, so I figured I would take it upon myself to clean the carb. First time doing so. Screens were quite dirty inside so I cleaned everything except I did not take out the adjustment screws. The needle I did. Everything seemed to go back together fine. Ive taken it back apart and re looked at stuff 3 times. I cant see anything wrong? First pull with full choke the saw does a half of a I'm going to start sound, then absolutely nothing. Few more pulls choke off and gas is running out of the muffler. Is this the needle not sitting properly? I did not get a rebuild kit, just sprayed out with carb cleaner and air. Thanks

You may want to check the diaphragm and gasket, they could be switched around. I have made that mistake.

Yes, sound like needle is stuck open. Make sure it goes: carb body-gasket-metering diaphragm-cover plate.
Make sure rubberized needle and needle seat is in good. Then the lever-could it have bent upward? = flooding.
Are these old diaphragms? The metering diaphragm could be stiff and "click" = bad sound.
May need a rebuild kit. Much simpler is a new carb. Aftermarket ones are ~$12 and work fine.

It might be the" blowing out with air "that did you in.There are check valves in the carb that can be damaged with high pressure air.
Or the level of the metering arm may be off.

A new OEM on Ebay was $40 and like you said aftermarkets work fine $12_$18 and include new lines and filters.
