Good morning, everyone. Mike, here, from the Poconos. Hey, I have a 24 year old St. Croix Afton Bay. Works like a champ. Have had MINIMAL problems, I take good care of it and try to burn good pellets.

I just had the stove serviced last weekend and started burning it. It seems to burn fine for about 5 or so hours with no issue, and then shuts down completely. There are no pellets in the burn pan, and there aren't any in the auger (stuck or caught up). I clean the stove out, and then start it, and again, it runs fine for a few hours, and then shuts down. I noticed that the 3rd LED light on the control panel blinks after it shuts down.

I researched this issue in the maintenance guide, and it states that it is likely the Proof of Fire Switch, I talked to my service guy, but he doesn't seem to think that is the issue. I have an extra Proof of Fire switch, and it looks simple enough to switch it. I am sure that I can do this on my own,

Anyone out there have a similar issue? This stove is a workhorse. It works great....until now. Doesn't owe me a dime.

If you have had a similar experience, and what it might bave been, please let me know. I THINK I will switch the proof of fire switch this weekend. Fingers crossed. We're getting a snowstorm in the Poconos, and it's cold.

Have a great day, everyone.
Mike

You shouldn't have a problem replacing the switch it is a simple remove and replace procedure. If that does not fix it I would check how hot the auger motor is the next time it shuts down wrong. Motor could be overheating and stopped feeding pellets. Also check the set screw on the auger collar that attached the auger motor to the auger.

Hey, thank you so much for the input. I will check that when/if it shuts down. I started it at about 7AM, so if history repeats itself, it should be shutting down at about noon. I will change the switch. Looks easy enough. Thanks again!
