OK, so just to the new Soot Eater plus extra rod kit, and I'm ready to tackle the flue.

However, I have a 90 degree thimble at the bottom of the flue, necessitating a barely-slightly-less-than-90 degree bend to get the Soot Eater up the flue. The SE manual says not to do this, even though the rods will do it.

Any experience? Is this real instructions or a lawyers' disclaimer?

Nevermind. Works fine. 18v drill powered right on through.

Did it scrape up the rods or dig into them at all? I have the same thimble with a 90 on it and was worried about messing up the rods

The rods got a bit scratched but nothing that struck me as bad. They are over 3/4" thick and pretty tough.

Good to hear as my situation is very similar and is this weekend's project.
