I have heard that it is not good to burn soft wood in a cat stove as it isnt good for the porcelin and builds up creasote quickly. Is this true? And if so can I burn softer wood just now and then on warmer days?

As long as it is dry wood it won't hurt anything. Just keep an eye on the stove temps when burning soft wood, it tends to burn fast and hot.

Thanks. M.O.F. I have a lot of soft wood i can use up then, its been a little chilly here in CT but not really cold yet. i can save all my hard splits for later.
