I answer the phone from a guy that lives about 45-60 minutes from my store. He requests service on a pellet stove from a stove he got at a BIG BOX STORE, 5 yrs ago. After listening for a few minutes I tell him that I am not familiar with that stove and unfortunately I can not send out someone to look at the stove that we do not carry parts for and the distance from my store. He said he was having electrical issues with the unit and it was tripping his breaker on his house's service panel. This did not make the customer happy since he said he called the mfg and they recommended me for service..... How did I get on their list? The guy further said how can "these stores" sell the stoves and not service them? I did not want to ask him how he could by a non dealer serviced stove but for one of the rare times I held my breath.
