I just got a used king pellet stove from my girlfriend’s uncle. My old Breckwell gave completely out. This stove is a 2018 model, I installed it and put in a new exhaust adapter on the back with red high temp sealant. I fired the stove up and I’m smelling a strong smoke/burning smell through out my entire house. I don’t see any smoke at all tho. I even turned all the lights off and shined a flashlight around all the areas no smoke at all, just a strong Oder. Seems like it smells the strongest around the front door and fan area. Please help I feel like I’m going to croak over due to the fumes. Thanks

well first thing would have been check the door gasket. Should have repaired the breckwell as they are bullet proof when running

Yeah my Breckwell was having a ton of problems tho. The fan was super loud, there was sensors broke in the back. And wires that were arcing. I still have it but it’s outside. I will for sure miss that stove tho it done a hell of a job. And I’m going to check the door seal on the new one when I get home. The door doesn’t seem to shut as strong as my Breckwell did. But then again the Breckwell could shut as hard as I needed to as it was adjustable by pushing down hard on it, I don’t think the seal on my old stove had ever been changed. I know the seal on my new one has been the same since 2018 so maybe it’s not clamping down enough

I feel you are going down the wrong track. Pellet stoves are negative
pressure stoves. If the door seal is bad it is sucking air in not pushing
smoke out. Recheck your exhaust connections and reseal with hi. temp.
silicone or hi. temp. silicone tape. That is most likely your leak with the
convection fan picking up the smoke and pushing the smoke into the room

Ok I’ll check that out. I’m going to put a thick layer of sealant all around the edge of connection. Thanks

Also check your combustion blower gasket and mounts
Will do! Thanks

i put a ton of silicone on the adapter im letting it dry not before i start the stove, but i got to noticing the exhaust fan looks like it has some black soot on it. Could it be coming from here? If so do i have to replace the entire fan or can i just replace a gasket?

Just the gasket
as long as the fan and motor are good
and with it off give the fan a good clean as well as the housing

Yeah everything works great. I just notice the black soot all over the fan. I’m guessing that’s where the smoke is coming from. I put a ton of silicone on the adapter piece and done the door test. So I think this is the only area it could be coming from.
