Smoke outlet hotter than stove, normal?

The center of the stove top is 500F.
The smoke outlet (where the chimney connects) is 600F.

Stove top temps can vary over a hundred degrees at a spot just a few inches over, especially if the fire is burning more strongly on one side.

In this case it may be due to thickness of the flue collar, if it's thinner than the stove top it will heat more quickly.

I got my highest IR reading on the stovetop directly at the chimney collar weld. Id say normal.
