Hello, a few problems here I'm hoping that you can help me troubleshoot.

My Heat n Glo model is: SL-550-TR-IPI-E:

Problems
1. Remote Control
The remote control has new batteries, small button in back can be pushed to put it into settings mode, but other than Up and Down for F or C, you cannot "Set" and move on to anything else, it just reads a temperature and a time. There is a controller box for it at the base of the fireplace, it is set to "Remote" and also has new batteries.

Q: What are my options in troubleshooting the remote and receiver, or repair/replacement options?

2. Fan
With the remote not working, I can turn on the wall switch and the fireplace lights, and up until recently, after 7-10 mins, once warmed up, the fan would then turn on. Now it does not. There is a Gas Fan Control (4021-229-B Rev A) with variable speed control and a test button. Press the test button and the fan turns on, release it and it turns off. While holding the button, the variable speed controller works as expected. If I hold the test button for a few seconds and then release, the fan will stay running for maybe a minute. I read in troubleshooting to trace the wires to the temp control module that once it warms up will then turn on the fan, however, that is tucked back behind the gas solenoid. It was dusty inside the box, so I have cleaned out, and used a duster to reach behind the solenoid and blindly dust what I could...but still no luck with the fan turning on automatically.

Q: What are my options for the fan. Look to remove the solenoid to get to the thermostat, replace it, and hope that solves it? Can I temporarily plug the fan in and bypass the controller?

Thank You, appreciate your time and help.
