I was just cleaning out the hopper of my Piazetta Monia pellet stove and I noticed a notch in the auger. I don't remember seeing this before, and I wanted to make sure it was supposed to be there and wasn't a chip. The stove has been behaving normally. If any other info would be helpful, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

Seeing that photo on the screen I realize that isn't the auger. It's the cover for the port in the bottom of the hopper that the auger goes through. Regardless, I don't remember seeing that notch before and I'd like to confirm that it's supposed to be there. Thanks!

Most of that 1/2 moon looks machine made but possibly a chip on one side
I don't think it will hurt anything but keep an eye on it. If you look at the
auger itself there is slight damage on the lip which may have been caused
by the chip breaking off. Like I said keep an eye on it if the stove functions
as normal I would not worry about it

Ah, I see what you're talking about on the auger. Interesting. I'll definitely keep an eye on it. My main question for now is if the stove is safe to run. From what you're saying, it sounds like I should be OK. I really appreciate the quick response!

I can see no reason not to run it as long as there is no noise or the auger catching on the nick
