My wife and I decided we are changing out our Jotul Oslo 500 for a Progress. We bought our Oslo new in 2009 and it’s been a fantastic stove but wanted to try a soapstone stove. Any suggestions on what to ask for our Oslo? We are using it now and want to wait until the Progress is installed before removing the Jotul.
Thank you!

If it is in nice condition and working well with no cracks or issue then $1000-1200.

Excellent condition and never over fired. I was thinking $1500.00, but wanted to ask.
we are still using i.

$3500? This was a $22-2500 stove. I figure no more than 50% of its cost when new in 2010, but if you can get $1500 go for it.

I believe the rule of thumb is 50% of new cost today. As in, the buyer should see that 50% savings as an incentive today.

If that stove is 3500$ now then 1500 or even 1750$ is reasonable. In the end, it’s only worth what someone will pay.

The progress is only 2.8 cubic feet and heavy! Make sure your floor is strong.

The Progress . . . quite honestly the only other woodstove that has turned my eye and made me even briefly consider throwing over the ol' reliable Oslo. Congrats on your purchase . . . looking forward to your comparison reports.

Firefighterjake,

I am excited about the progress to, but we have always enjoyed our Oslo it’s a fantastic stove that we have never had a issue with. We have a Jotul CB3 at our cabin basically Oslo’s baby brother and it is a great stove.
My wife and I actually purchased a used Tulikivi 2450 but I did not want to deal with the floor bracing in the basement and we love soapstone. (We have soapstone countertops) so The progress seemed like a good compromise.
I’m definitely envious of your wood shed! I wish I had it at my house! What is the size of your wood shed?

I think it's 12 x 20.

I sold a 8 year old Oslo for $1000. It went pretty quick so I might have been able to get a little more.
