I think it looks like Maple, maybe red.

I agree, it looks like Maple, and probably Red Maple is a good guess. i don't think it is Norway Maple, but it could be Sugar maple i guess.

My vote is Maple, and it looks like some of those are gnarly and should be real fun to split ;)

Thanks guys! Yeah it's a gnarly mess. All the good stuff is buried under all the branches so my friend is gonna have the town take away the brush so I can go back and get the logs.

My thinken too. Hope the local vice squad don't pullem over, what with a truckful of butts 'n' crotches.

I think it's maple, prolly red, too. :)

Maple. Enjoy beating on those if you split by hand.

Yes, red maple. Not quite the BTUs of sugar maple, but it's about the best we get in this neck of the woods. Makes a nice even burn with good coals.

Definately Maple - I just finished a dump load and 3 pickups of the same in March. Better rent a splitter as my maul and axe bounced off many of the rounds. Too many crothches. I hope mine will be ready come fall. I thought mine was silver maple. It's the tree with the seed pods that whirl like a helicopter when they fall.

This will be my second time splitting red maple and the first one was a twisted up gnarly nightmare. Here I go again lol!
