Feeling the Heat

Hi All,

I'm looking to get more heat out of my hearth mounted Jotul F100 and into the room/other parts of house. Searching for blower options on the internet seems like a bit of a shot in the dark. Do any of you have any blower suggestions/recommendations either specific to the Jotul F100 or just some blower that you can retrofit to a variety of stoves? Moving hot air is number one priority. Quiet, heat controlled, variable speed and not too expensive would also all be nice!

Thanks!

Amazon is your friend. I posted a thread about buying a generic blower for my nc30. It makes way more flow at way less cost than the factory options.

It was only like 60$ iirc.

You can buy the little rheostats for speed control. I added a temperature control switch so the big fan only runs when the stove is hot.

It really made a big difference on my nc30.

Thanks Highbeam. I agree Amazon is my friend! However, as a newbie who knows absolutely nothing about blowers (I don't even know if the blower should go under the stove, on top of, etc.), when I search Amazon for "wood stove blowers," I come up with a million options. Your info about rheostats and temp control switch are very helpful. Could you possibly point me in the direction of any specific blower(s), so I can get an idea of what I should be looking for?

Look at my profile and search for threads by me. One will be my blower thread. It had links to the blower I chose. I’m on a phone now or I’d do it for you.

Thanks Highbeam. Is this the thread you're referring too? https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/blower-for-nc30-upgrade-options.139673/#post-2155436

If so, this must be the blower you bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HJ82RVG/?tag=hearthamazon-20

A few things I don't get - this says the CFM for your blower is 160. My little ecofan says it's 260 to 380 CFM. Is this possible? If so, why wouldn't one or two of these ecofans do a better job than a blower? This is a link to the ecofan, and I do notice it moving hot air, just not as much as I'd like: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0762PR6XT/?tag=hearthamazon-20

If I were to get this blower, I'm not sure how I'd attach it to the Jotul F100. Thoughts? Are there any pre made blowers out there that come in some sort of a box set up you can just attach to a stove? Maybe I'm asking for too much!

I do not believe that the eco fan moves 300 cfm! That’s ridiculous.

When you don’t buy an oem fan setup then you need to build your own attachment system. The blower can be attached many ways or you can even just set it on the hearth blowing into the desired place.

The 160 cfm fan I used, same as the link, moves a lot of air for a stove. Far more air than the oem blowers on the nc30, my blaze king, or my old Lopi insert.

Something is fishy about the way cfm from a paddle fan is determined. My bk paddle fans are rated at 210 cfm yet I can barely feel any air flow on high, just gobs of heat.

The 160 cfm squirrel blower on my nc30 blows your hair or inflates your T-shirt several feet in front of the stove.
