I have a logwood 1269 which started leaking smoke. On inspection I found that the baffle plate had warped so much that the Kao wool was being pushed up cutting off the flue.
I want to make a new baffle plate, I have some 1/8 steel plate (thickness if original baffle) I also have some 5/16 plate.
Does the baffle need to be a special type of steel?
Would the 5/16 be better than the 1/8?
Thanks

I'd use the thicker 5/16" or add some stiffeners to the 1/8".
