I was sweeping the chimney of my Spectrum Classic and tore the ceramic blanket over the baffle a bit removing/installing it.
It sits loose on the baffle up there with a bit of overhang at the sides/rear, so I tried a thin SS plate over it that didn't allow an easy time replacing, it actually got jammed, briefly.
I see a few versions of my stove had a loose blanket (mine), blankets with a ss sheet over it, and ceramic board w/clips.
My question is; my baffle has no provisions to secure a ceramic board to it so I was thinking of using a small daub of refractory cement at 2 corners just to keep it in place while re & re the baffle to sweep.
Does anyone see any problems with this? The baffle is in good shape.
The ceramic blanket was loaded with soot and pretty ratty even before the damage so I figure the board would be easier to maintain....
