I have had my 5100 for 25 years and use it as my main heat with an Harmon oakwood at the back of the house which i'll run when it gets very cold.
I have started to look and search the threads but I'm looking for suggestions.
I have rebuilt and repaired my 5100 firebrick and all that over the years and would rather steer away from the Cat stoves like my Oakwood because parts are pricey.

The options have gone down since 2020. A Lopi Freedom or Freedom Bay would have been a good choice before then. That said, there are still good non-cat, ~3 cu ft inserts made by Osburn (3500-i) and Pacific Energy (Summit), How tall is the chimney liner on this stove? Is it insulated?

Just curious, why is the Quad being replaced?

If parts are still available, the old 5100I is hard to get a bigger heater. Some of its interior room was kinda wasted on the side windows, people I knew would cut short pieces to fill that area, trying to get every BTU they could. If she is tired, then listen to BG, both good choices he gave you. I'm away from HHT stoves now, wonder if the 5100I is still supported by Quad parts-wise...

The metal on the top is wearing thinner and it is starting to look tired.
The chimney liner is not insulated.....wasn't really on the radar back then.
From top of stove to cap it would be around 30'
It has been a great unit and heated this old farmhouse well!

I've seen the odd 5100 pop up on market place .........maybe that is the best path.

Finding another 5100i or a Freedom Bay would be good as long as it has been well cared for. I am concerned about the very tall flue. The Osburn and the PE Summit are easy breathers. My guess is that something would need to tame the draft for those inserts.
