Repairing cracked firebox mortar and bricks.

My home's bulk/builder zero clearance fireplace had some cracks and I removed the loose bricks.

I removed the bricks and any rubble and am thinking to re-lay/point the bricks with refractory cement from caulk tubes. Any reason I shouldn't do this, if all seams are grouted?

Just replace the panel your "fix" won't last long. Also you should have the entire system inspected

I found a tag on the unit with model # as Marco 792776E and open to suggestions on where to find the panel.

I don't think they are in buisness anymore but look it up. If not you can buy oversized panels and cut to fit

Think I found a few, but are in the $1100+ range for the kit but did find the back panel dimensions to see if I can find one that won't have me just buying a whole new fireplace or more efficient insert.

Dimensions are 15 1/4" H x 21 ¾" W x 1" Thick

Yeah parts aren't cheap at all. And an insert isn't an option in that fireplace
