I am looking to go out through a basement window hole of a 1800’s house with a Duraplus 6” (14 to 14 1/4” ish hole size) through the wall kit. Not my first choice for install but I have most of what I think I will need already. If this is too crazy I might just put it off another year at least but would love to get it in.

The main problem I am seeing is the “ceiling” (bottom of floor joists) to DVL pipe (where the duraplus thimble turns into the DVL adapter/pipe inside, in the stone walls window hole) measurement is going to be 4-5” at best to the pipe.

If I mount a heat shield with 7/8”-1” ceramic spacers, can I reduce my DVL’s manufacturer’s stated horizontal clearance of 8” 50% to 4”? Or does that only work with single wall and/or vertical runs?

Thanks everyone!
