About a year ago I purchased a Mt Vernon that wasn't working. For years I have owned an MT Vernon AE but I soon realized that they are not even kind of the same.

This isn't a huge deal but I don't know where to start. I am fairly sure the speed control box is in working order. However, before I start throwing parts at it, are there typical problem parts I should replace first?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated,

Welcome to the forum
It might be a good idea to tell us what it is and is not doing
When you start the stove what happens? Do the lights come on the control board?
Does the combustion blower run and so on?

Very true, I haven't worked on the stove in some time, however, what I remember is that couldn't get it to light, I manually lit the stove, and the fan turned on. It wasn't dropping new pellets as the fire went out.

I was working on this in my garage/driveway so there wasn't a chimney pipe attached if that has any relevance. The speed control box ( clear plastic thing) flashes blue which I think is a good thing.

Any idea where to start?

Is this the original Mt Vernon 4-speed control box (Quad speed) or the newer Mt Vernon E2? The AE was in between these models.
If you are lighting manually (?) does the ignitor not work? It may have a thermocouple issue too it sounds like. Anyway, need more info.
