This is the 2nd year I'm using this unit and already the firepot cleanout lever is very hard to open. First year was a little stiff, but doable. But now it requires a lot of force to open and close it. I don't want to break anything and don't want it to get worse where it's stuck for good. Is there a trick to getting this thing sliding easier or lubricating it with something safe to use?

Hello, I have a 1999 quad Castile. The bottom plate on the pot builds up a hard carbon and it will not bypass the pot when you pull the lever.
I use d wide blade screwdriver about 12 inches long to scrape the plate off. If you take a flashlight and look at the bottom of the pot when you pull the lever
you will see where the buildup is and won't bypass the pot.
I clean mine daily as a maintenance so it is not so hard to do.
