Quadra Fire Mt. Vernon AE - Noise Level Comparison

Is the MT. Vernon very quiet as advertized?

Installed an Enviro Empress Insert in 2008. It has been adequate to heat a 2500 sqf open floor plan house. Not easy, with cathederal ceilings though using fans, etc.
It is installed centerally to the main living area. I'm OK with it ( no problems) but not truly happy. Would like a bit more heat without running on 3 or 4 all the time.

So i've considered trading up to the Mt. Vernon, which is what I had originally liked, but felt it may have been overkill. My main concern is the noise level. The Enviro FI is quite and I
have gotton use to a blower but it still is bothersome as I live in a very quiet area and the kids have moved on.

Can't really tell in a store. Before I spend $$$$$$$$ and go through the hassel will it heat well on a low setting and BE QUIET?

Quiet is a relative term, so you'll probably get all sorts of answers. There are apparently older models that were quite noisy and newer models that are supposed to be quieter. The Pros from Dover can fill in the details of when the fan motor was changed - I'm just a lowly owner with only my own stove for comparison. But right now I'm sitting here listening to my AE insert running on Manual-High (its top output setting), and don't find it noisy in the least. If you can get by with a lower setting, it would be even quieter.

Obviously there a science here and one could chime in with dB level readings. I'd say this. On manual high my Mt Vernon is no louder than a modern fan running. To have a tv running in the same room would probably require that the tv get turned up a bit but nothing extreme.

I don't have much to compare with, but I think my insert is pretty quiet. Like Jabberwocky said, it isn't any louder than an average fan, even on the "normal" setting.
