How do you fix this, this is the cord for the MTD 20 Ton which snapped today.

Zap, I didn't read the whole thing but that should get you going in the right direction.
 
If the cord broke close to the pull handle, all you may need to do is take off the shroud and find the end piece and put your handle back on it. Typically, there is enough slack on most pull cords to do this. If it is several inches gone and/or in bad condition, I would just replace it.
 
I never seem to get it back just right.

Smokin I brought the MTD 20 Ton in on the trailer this morning to the Woodchop Shop and the pull cord is done, weather permitting the American CLS will be brought in on Tuesday morning and fixed.
