Yesterday I went onto pelletsales.com and priced out 3 tons of Granules LG to my zip code for march delivery. They quoted me $229/ton plus delivery. $239 for April, $249 for May.

Today I go to the site to place my order and now the price is $239 for March delivery to the same zip code. $249 for April and $259 for May.

What is up with that? It's only $30, but still a bit annoying. Especially with that $100 delivery charge. They couldn't just wait a few days for the end of the month to roll around to raise the price?

Could be a problem with the website. Call & explain that it's not the end of the month yet, but price changed online, and ask for clarification....I spoke to Sandy, who is VERY nice.... 603-623-1150 ....her extension is 215.

I've never used pelletsales.com. How are they? Are they respectable?

Even the increased prices arent bad for the middle-of-the-road quality of LG.

Maybe the price already increased because they can't deliver in March at this late in the game.

That's what I initially thought. Then I saw the price they quoted me for April delivery is $10 higher than it was a couple days ago.

Those per ton prices are still lower than what they are offering in SE MA.
$259.00 not including delivery for March. I purchased from them last year
but found a much better deal locally this year.

I was just at their site and the only thing they are offering in my zip code is "Clean Fire" pellets. They list an early buy price of $249/ton but they state they are out of stock.

I ordered 6 tons from them 2 weeks ago and the delivered within 5 days

Just in case anyone would like to know, the "Cleanfire" is PelletSales own brand, but are really NEWP hardwood from the NY plant.

I just bought LG's from Pelletsales for 260 per ton delivered. They delivered within a week of receiving my check. Happy camper here--same price I was paying for corn I had to pick up myself!

I usually buy from pelletsales.com but when I put in my delivery zip
it showed me only one brand - rocky mountain - and a price
of $279 not including delivery. I barely had room for 1 1/2 tons
let alone their 2.6 ton minimum so I had to pass on them this year.

Oh, what are they doing now!!!

Back on March 25th I got a quote from Pelletsales.com for April delivery that was initially $239 then mysteriously bumped up to $249 the next day.

Well I just went back to the site to place my order at the $249 price. The price has been raised again to $269 a ton now.

What are they doing? They are now $40 a ton more expensive than last week. March quotes were $229.

Needless to say, I did not order.

FWIW, August prices have been jacked up to $300.

hm....maybe the investors arent getting the returns they had hoped? Maybe there is a shortage? Maybe they are seeing who is gonna blink first? Maybe there is more demand than we know?

.....or maybe some pellet dealers are well aware of the fact that people
go into panic-buy-mode the closer it gets to the heating season.

FYI, I posted this in another thread a few weeks ago....you may find this interesting as well.

I haven’t read this entire thread so if it has been mentioned I apologize. I would NOT order through the website, I’d call them. I live in a small town, Burrillville, RI. Each of the old villages Pascoag, Harrisville, etc have their own zipcode. If I put in my zipcode (pascaog) and then put in Harrisville or some other which, by the way Harrisvill is about a 1/16 of a mile down the road, I get different options. For my zip I get Westwood 259/ton. For Harrissville I get westwood for 249/ton. Don’t believe me check for yourself. 02859 and 02830. This is the same friggin town. No way I’m paying $10 more than the guy down the street. I’m sure they would give me the better price they seem like decent people.

What I’m saying is experiment with some other (near by) zip codes before you just order online. What I really don’t like is that North Smitihfield 02896 (next town over 10 mins away) I get two pellet choices, Smithfield 02917 two choices one diff from N. Smithfield. Anyway I could go on. Point is these towns are all within a 20 minute radius and should be offered the same choices and same prices. Do your homework first everyone, then see if they’ll give you the best price. Just my .02

I did buy from them last year and was happy with the service, pellets in my opinion sucked. Cleanfire, kept clogging my auger. I don't plan on purchasing from them again simply because I don't like any of the brands they offer. Service was good though.

I heard it suggested a couple times in this thread and heartily agree that your best bet is to call them. Darlene
(X 207) is the manager and she's super to work with. I have seen that phenomenon about the next town over
getting different pricing per ton. I could see different delivery prices based on location, but the per-ton prices
should be the same. Maybe it's a function of perceived demographics. (This is a ritzy town! Maybe they have
more money!!!)

They may also be able to offer a better selection if you call them. I have used them for 4 or 5 years and they've
always been great. Their delivery coordination this year left a great deal to be desired.

You have nothing to lose by calling them. They're good folks.
