Looking for ideas on what to use for piping for the harman p68. the exhaust tube looks to be about 3.5" diameter so trying to find ideas for 4" pipe to hook to it without buying "Stove Pipe" at $500+ for 24ft.

See 2 links for ideas about what im thinking of. what has everyone else done? or just fork out the cash and bite the bullet for "Stove pipe"

Thanks

Links you posted are not acceptable. you must use pellet stove approved pipe for safety and insurance purposes. get out the manual and use what is listed in there.

Sysko is right. The chimney must be a chimney designed for a wood fired appliance. It will be a stainless inner pipe covered by an outer pipe.

There is a reason insurance companies don’t usually insure people who install their own appliances and this is a perfect example. The Harman p68 is a Cadillac and one of the hottest burning stoves on the market but you want to skimp to save a couple bucks because you think your smarter than the people who do this for a living. Go volunteer on your local fire department and you’ll see real quick why hearth companies take this so seriously.

I came across this just this week. These folks went for the single wall galvanized bvent because it was cheaper than pellet pipe. They didn’t use an attic insulation shield either. There is burnt up insulation and a smoldered pack rat nest laying around their pipe and the wood around the pipe where it penetrates the roof is scorched. This could’ve been a house fire this season.

Wow! I would spend $1000 on pipe before I bought that stuff. Surely your insurance deductible after the fire will be at least that much.
