Pellet Pig Strikes Again

Had a several more 10% off coupons from Lowe's that expire 02/15/11 and decided to get a few more pellets, 6 tons to be exact. They had the Infernos, YUK, and Prestologs in stock at the Plainville Ct. store, $187 a ton. I have burned the Prestologs from this batch and have no clinker issues and the heat output is slightly better than the Stove Chow I have. I picked up 3 tons of the Prestologs Saturday and stored them in the basement and went back today to get the other 3 tons. They came out with a ton of Somerset's for the guy loading his van and I asked if they had any more and they had 1 ton left so I took it along with 2 tons of the Prestologs. I haven't tried the Somerset's and this is against the try before you buy a ton but took them anyways.
The problem was getting them to the basement hatchway, 3 tons of pellets 5.5 tons of Excursion and trailer 2+ feet of snow = stuck in my mind, I decided it get out the old 1974 Ariens snowblower and make a path in the rear yard to the basement hatchway.
I now have 10.75 tons in the basement ready to burn, Stove Chow, Somerset's, Hammer's, Spruce Point's, Prestolog's and a few bags of Vermont's, Okanagan's, Rocky Mountain's.
The new puppy Cayenne checking out my pellets.

I got bored today and did some basement shuffling. I made room for 68 more bags and will be getting them next weekend. The New Lowes coupons are $25 off of $250. So got to get 68 to get the deal. That will put me back to 5.2 tons. And will burn enough to get another ton plus in the spring time. Might be looking at MWP, Okies or some Cubies depending on price. All I know is the basement stays stuffed chock full this season. I will burn them down if the prices go up again!

The white over wrap is Somersets and the black is Pres to logs? I hope the local has some white over wraps. I saw some Tan overwraps too, Wonder whats in them??

I wish I had a basement. I have a bilevel and throw bags in corners that I never knew I had all over the house. I have 1 ton outside still shrink wrapped from plant and 3 hard hats(1 stapled to pallet from factory and two more from the two tons I broke down). I hope mice don't find a home in there.

Gotta love the SuperDuty/Excursion to pull these heavy loads. If I would use that many tons per season, I would love to pull the trailer with 6 pallets on it hooked to the 6.0 250. Getting them off and into the house/basement is another story.

My 22k mile 2006 250 King Ranch has been in the driveway for the past 5/6 weeks, I wish I had a garage for it. Diesel got too expensive and but mostly because it doesn't like salty roads, I'll let it out after the snow melts and the first rains wash away the salt from the road.

The chairs are a project that I haven't got to yet, have to finish them. I also have to leave some room to get to the BEER fridge. :red:
Now if I could get someone to take back the empties I would have room for 2 more tons and some money to pay for them. ;-)

The Excursion is a 2000 and just turned 100K. I bought it in 2003 with just over 60 K on it from one of my customers and I pretty much serviced it since new. I don't think I burned through a tank of fuel in it last year. Mainly used it to go to the lumber yards for materials for the front porch I built.
I have winter beater rust bucket 92 Explorer and a 96 2 door Explorer that was a 2 wheel drive 5 speed manual trans 6 cylinder 4.0L that I transplanted the drive train from a wrecked 97 Explorer. It now is a 5.0 V8 all wheel drive with a automatic trans. The 5.0 got warmed up with a quick rebuild, mild cam, headers and some mild tuning. Best of all it was a California vehicle so no rust and bought it on craigslist for $400 with a engine that ran but was using coolant. The 97 doner Explorer was $300.

Some nice deals there. It does pay to be handy. I turn to my brother in law for diagnostics and then I try to do the work myself. I use the wife's RX to beat in the snow and salt, I want a rust bucket too. Wait I had one and sold it 1989 4cyl 5sp 2wd ranger sold with 190k miles and burned not one drop of oil, gotta love those 2.3's

The 2.3s were a great engine. Now if Ford could get their diesels straightened out, wait a minute what would I want that for, wouldn't be able to buy pellets, beer or toys.
Everyone thought the Ford/Navastar 6.0 diesel had problems the 6.4 diesel has been the worst POS ever made and a complete nightmare to work on. You don't want to own one of these when it goes out of warranty, you will go broke if it needs repairs. Fords new 6.7 in house built diesel has been good SO FAR, time will tell.

Nice haul but it looks like you still have a lot of room on that trailer. Put that "Big Block Chevy" to work, you can't beat cubic inches when work like this needs to be done.

I was a Chevy guy many years ago and still have my 75 GMC Jimmy retired to snow plow duty, but now Ford is paying the bills.
I wanted to grab my neighbors trailer and put all 6 tons on it but he was using it to transport his skid steer for snow bank removal so I ended up using mine and did 3 tons at a time.
