Pellet furnace..no existing duct work

Pellet heat was the way for us to go ...stove is nice but furnace would be better..But..I have no existing duct work in my home.
If i were to put the unit in our garage , on the entire back wall I have access to most of the house. Anyone with experience with a complete install on one of these or any ideas? All info is appreciated.

Check your building codes and with your home insurance agent. I know there is code against a solid fuel buring appliance in an attached garage. Do not have the exact wording at this time.

I just got off the telephone with my Insurance agent and he said there was no such code in New York State but I will check with the NYS code enforcement officer in the town where I reside..This could be just what I need and it would be easy to do...

Yes it is an easy install but cover your back before you invest the money.

A few questions...can I use low profile duct work and insulate it from the cold air of my garage and do I need any cold air ( return) of any kind or is the cold air from my garage sufficient?

Whatever type of stove or furnace you have in your garage will need an outside or return air because if it draws combustion or circulation air from the garage, that air will be blown into your house.

I hope you do not plan on having any type of gasoline or combustible liquids in there. Guess what might happen?

NFPA_211 chapter 12.2.4 “solid fuel-burning appliances shall not be installed in any garage”

pellet stoves are “solid fuel-burning appliances” therefore cannot be legally installed in any garage.

that said it is probably the most violated paragraph in the entire code book.
