I was wondering if I could use the platinum board (1-00-05886) on my PC45 since I've done the conversion to basically a P61 (see older thread). The only thing not converted over is the high pressure igniter. The new style board is $200 cheaper then my old style (1-00-05887) and I've heard rumors that Harman is phasing out some older stove parts. For that amount of money I could convert to a finned igniter if need be. I don't have any problems with my old board now but if I ever need one I want to be able to get one and don't really want to buy a $400 board to sit on the shelf as a spare. Just planning ahead.

Hi there,

I’m a new owner of a nice used Harman PC45. I’ve read a majority of your posts about the conversion you did a couple of years ago and have a couple of questions.

Right now mine is stock and set up to run pellets only. I see that in one of your posts you mention being able to still use the pressurized igniter with the P61a burn pot. Is this correct? Were there any other modifications needed when you did this part of it? Any tips or tricks you learned while doing this?

Lastly, prior to this cold snap we’re in the stove did great, but once the temps got down below 20 it’s barely keeping up. I’m sure I should have bought a bigger stove, but for our first pellet stove and for $750 I couldn’t pass this one up. If I could get a bit more heat out of her I’d be happy. Any suggestions you have to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time and for your help!

Im not a Harman guy so im not inteligent about you control board. But getting more heat out of a smaller stove if it maxed out is impossible. This is where a bigger stove running lower most of the time has some headroom to go higher. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news😔

All you are lacking is the igniter and cradle if you already replaced the burn pot. You can get them both and the board for less than the PC45 board. The PC45 and the P61 use the same stove body. running a P61 burn pot on a PC45 board seems a little sketchy with auger timing ect

h2o999, No tricks, just remove the old burn pot and install the new one. You'll need a new burn pot gasket to get a good seal. The high pressure igniter ceramic bushing is behind the burn pot gasket so no need to remove any of that. Now after all that I'm not sure that will get you more heat. If that stove was burning corn when you got it make sure the exhaust fan cover has the big hole in it. The stove shipped from the dealer with both cover plates. I'm guessing but the big hole is about 2.5 inches and small about 1.5 inches. You won't make much heat with pellets and the small hole cover. Read the sticky above about Harman stoves and feed rates. It was -14 this morning and my PC45 is keeping my 2000 sf home a comfortable 73 degrees.

Oh, I forgot to add if you do install the new burn pot you'll most likely have to change the dip switch settings for the start up charge time. If I recall the starting charge of pellets/corn on the PC45 was to high with the new burn pot since there is no stir rod to spread them out.

Thank you sir! I installed the new P61a burn pot, platinum control board, and twin blade combustion fan today. She’s a totally different stove than it was with the PC45 parts on it. About 125 degrees hotter on the sides and top of the stove. So far I’m happy with it.

You say you put in the platinum board. Are you still using the old high pressure ignition?

Yes I haven’t changed the igniter over to the new style yet, as a guy on one of the FB forums swore that it would work with the old igniter, and so far it’s working great.

Part number for the board I’m using is 1-00-05886. I have the dip switches set at 1,2,3,5,6,7 all on, 4 and 8 off. It’s set for a P61a with a red esp wire.
