This morning I decided there was enough ash in the bottom of the stove and pushed it into the ash drawer.

I've been burning pallets for a few weeks now and I think there were more nails than ash in it.

*sigh* must collect more wood as soon as the snow goes away so I will have enough next year.

Matt

edited to change the title from pellets to pallets.

Get a nice magnet
McMaster-Carr has some nice ones, they take them nails right out of the ash, I got one with a threaded insert so I could put a bolt on it.

Don't knock them pallets! Those babies got me out of a jam last year...I burned 85 boxes worth of pallet wood...heated the whole house nice. The nails do leave something to be desired...but you can't beat the price!

I'm not knocking them, they're burning now! They certainly are helping me out and the price is great. The airspace between the slats keeps them nice and dry too. You can't beat the green aspect of burning something that is being thrown out or would normally be left to rot either.

I just like free trees without nails better!
