Gathering supplies before I paint a stove. Seems alcohol is recommended prior to painting. I have on hand Varsol, no name paint thinner and Wood Alcohol(made for burning in cooking appliances). Rather than adding another jug of flammable material to my stash I’m looking for recommendations which of the above listed chemicals would work. Thank you in advance.

Wood alcohol is methanol. It will work. Wear gloves, it's poisonous. Varsol might work too, I just have never used it.
