We have a new Pacific Energy Vista and we are having a real hard time loading it without filling the room with smoke. Our chimney is clean, the wood is dry and there is a draft. We are getting very frustrated. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

are you loading it while there is still wood burning in it, like just 1 or 2 pieces at a time? Lots of people here, myself included, do what is called batch burning, load the stove, let it burn down to coals then refill and repeat, that way you're not opening the door when there is a lot of smoke.

if this isn't ideal for you try opening the air fully for a few minutes to increase draft before opening the door, then crack the door a little and open it very slowly.

Smoke rollout should not be happening, especially now that temps are cold. Can you post a picture of the installation and describe the flue system from stove to the chimney cap? Include any elbows, tees, pipe size and any horizontal sections. Also, is there a screen on the cap. Some screens plug up quickly.

In the meantime, before opening the door, open the air control, wait a minute, then open the door slowly.
