We have a log cabin that is 28 years new and currently have a VC Defiant with a cracked top that we are looking to replace. Our cabin is 1980 sqft with high ceilings. We have a heat pump for temps that are above 40 if we need to us it. We are considering the Osburn 3500 or Enerzone Solutino 3.5 both have no warranty since the person selling them is not a dealer they are close out stoves. Is not having a warranty ok on a wood stove if the discount is large enough? We are able to get either stove for under $1400. I am looking at both of these stoves which seem to be sister stove from what I read. We looked at the Blaze King Sirocco but it was $4500 and the budget is a little snug. We also looked at the Buck 74 as was leaning on that until these two stoves came along. Both of the discount stoves seem to be complete with everything. Any thoughts?

A warranty is nice to have, but if its not a dealer selling you the stove, can't see it helping. 1400 sounds like a great deal. Chances are that stove will give years of great heat at no complaint. Make sure they are complete, the base, the door, stove and its internals. Hard to say that isn't a good deal for someone on a tight budget. Keep warm.

Could be a good deal if the price is right.

With the price where it is the value seems good. We currently have a 8" flue so downsizing to a 6" should not be a problem. I could have the top welded on the VC and keep it going but I think that might be a problem later on. I like both the osburn 3500 and the enerzone 3.5. I just was not sure if either of these stoves have issues that a warranty would really need to render to. It will be a main source of heat in the winter since the heat pump struggles to keep up a really low temps outside.

I went on and purchased the Enerzone 3.5. Stove looks a lot like the Osburn 3500 since they are sisters. We did not get a warranty so I looked it over very well before purchase. It had everything with it from what I could tell. I was able to get it home and unloaded into the house. Now I need to evaluate the stove pipe since I have a 8" pipe and this one is 6". I am thinking maybe going to a double wall pipe but that is pricey and I am still researching how the double wall vs single wall helps. I also need to change my hearth out and rebuild it for the wifey to be happy.

Yes, go with doublewall. It'll last forever, work better too. That ugly pill of costing more is a one time thing. Over the life of the stove, doublewall you'll buy once, probably last forever, singlewall is typically replaced 8-10 times over life of the stove... but the better operation of the DW is why most suggest you spend the money for it. Stay warm.

Connect with 6" stove pipe and increase to 8" at the chimney support box. You'll want to use double-wall stovepipe, especially with the high ceiling. Enjoy that big beastie and post pictures with it running.
