Ok, I know I'm late but....

I've been doing a gut and rebuild on my 200 year old house. A year ago I bought my Baby Countryside. It provided me with heat for the winter..and did a great job. I'm in the home stretch and I thought I would share my (almost) finished family room. In looking at the pictures, it looks very plain. Maybe some brass trim?

That's a beautiful install. There's something appropriate in a functional (not fancy) look in a 200 year old house in the northeast. I'm not sure that fancier would be more in keeping with the look of your house. You've also done a real nice job hiding the wires. My wife really likes the look of the pipe going up. Our house was built in the 70's (1970's) and it doesn't really need an older look to fit. Clean outside pipe venting. Looks like it hasn't stained your white siding. lucky Did you do the entire install yourself? Nice Job! regards, clifford

Hi Clifford! Thanks. I would like to say I installed it myself but to get the full warranty, I had to have it installed. When I built the room, I planned on the stove so the outlet is there as well as the wiring for the thermostat. I ordered the plain pipe so I could paint it black. I wanted that "old timey look" to go with the house.
I'm actually looking forward to sitting in my living room, watching the snow fly and enjoying the nice heat from the stove. The way this year is going that may come in August!

Love the stove but I''m gonna be the odd man out
and say I don't care for the exhaust pipe pointing
down toward the windows like that especially if
those windows open. I would have gone straight up
and out through the roof. Just my opinion which
probably isn't worth much.

Zeta...I thought about sending it right up the roof but decided to do it this way so if I ever decided to change things I could patch the wall and the siding much easier than the roof.

As for the windows...They will probably be closed when I run the stove. I've yet to see any smoke from this stove and as you can see from the side of the house, it's exhausting well.

I agree, I can turn it if need be. I did the leaf blower trick on it a while ago and got quite a bit of ash and dust from it. My clean out on the bottom of the pipe gave up very little ash. That said, I didn't run it full time this year. Next year will tell.

Chandler, It just occurred to me...... - How do you get to the pipe outlet to seal it against birds and wasps in the summer? Have you sealed it yet? Also we should see a picture of you with the leaf blower doing the cleanout. I assume you're at the end of a long ladder?? With a significant other holding the base?? lol regards, clifford

Hey Clifford...You know, I never thought of closing off the vent. I think I will leave it for the summer and pull it off in the fall to see if anyone has lived there. I have a 10 foot ladder with rubber feet so I don't have to trust the wife to hold...or not hold...the ladder

You'll have to wait 'till next year fro the leaf blower picture. I was by myself and couldn't get a picture...but I'll get someone to do it next year. By then it should be a good show!
